The Berd Sparrow50 Gold is a high-performance gravel wheelset engineered to combine aerodynamic efficiency, ultra-low weight, and Berd’s signature vibration-damping spokes. With a 50 mm deep carbon rim and a claimed weight of just 1,298 grams, the Sparrow50 Gold is built for riders looking for maximum speed without sacrificing control and comfort when the terrain gets rough.
Wind-tunnel development resulted in a wheelset that is 14% more aerodynamic than the previous-generation Sparrow, with the rim profile optimized around modern 40–60 mm gravel tires. Berd specifically developed and tested the wheels with 45–55 mm tires, including the Schwalbe G-One RS PRO 45 mm.
At the heart of the wheelset are Berd PolyLight spokes, weighing just 2.4 grams each. Beyond reducing weight, their viscoelastic properties help damp high-frequency vibration from rough gravel. Independent testing measured a 5-watt rolling-efficiency savings at 30 km/h, helping reduce energy loss while creating a smoother ride that can lessen rider fatigue over long distances.
